Who will avail of the last few remaining spots in Ireland's World Cup squad?

This is the burning question right now for every Irish fan and pundit, and until we get our definitive answer - this Sunday at 4.30pm - it is hard to move on and look ahead to the tournament itself.

With Andy Farrell's announcement that both Dan Sheehan and Rónan Kelleher should be fit for the group stages, the situation has become clearer, but is still far from certain.

A crucial aspect that must be taken into account is the split in squad between backs and forwards. Speaking with us - in association with Ladbrokes - Stephen Ferris explains why he believes priority should be given to the forwards.

I suppose it's the split between the backs and the forwards, where is that going to be?

Different nations are going different ways about it. I would always pick an extra forward instead of an extra back.

How many back rows is he going to take? Ryan Baird's there. You're four [regulars], Josh van der Flier, Caelan Doris, Peter O'Mahony.... Ryan Baird, Cian Prendergast, and Jack Conan.

"There's six lads that they're probably going to take," added Ferris.

"I think in the 2011 Rugby World Cup when I was there, it's always good, when you're running team plays, to have the same amount of back row forwards on the pitch as well.

"Because they're obviously targeting the breakdowns, and you're able to work really well against three other guys, so I think they probably will take six back rowers."
