Connacht outscored Brive three tries to nil at the Stade Amedee-Domenech on Saturday, though still lost the game.

Early in the encounter, Connacht had their young second row Ultan Dillane to thank for preventing the French side from scoring at least one try.

The Tralee native hit Brive fullback Romain Sola with a hefty and effective tackle less than five minutes into the game.

Connacht lost the match through a late penalty from Thomas Laranjeira.

The western province require a win against Russian side Enisei-STM on Saturday to secure qualification for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.
