Hartlepool manager Keith Curle gave one of the best post-match interviews you will ever see over the weekend.

There hasn’t been much to cheer about for Hartlepool fans this season, currently sitting in the relegation zone in League Two, with just one win before Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Grimsby.

While the victory lifted them off the bottom, they are still in the bottom two on goal difference, as they are likely to be in a relegation scrap this season.

While it can be hard for fans, players, and indeed staff to keep positive during such a difficult period, Hartlepool manager Keith Curle is more upbeat than others given the current situation.

Curle took over as interim manager of Hartlepool in September following the sacking of Paul Hartley, and it looked as though his side were heading for defeat when Grimsby scored in the first 10 minutes.

However, two goals in the final 12 minutes gave his side a much needed victory, and two of the three items off his list for the day.

“I woke up this morning and I had three requests, us to win, Man City to win, and me missus to be in a sexy mood.

I’ve got two out of three so far, I’ve got a two-hour drive home, I will be grating to make sure I get a hat-trick.”

The reporter was left stunned in quite a unique but hilarious interview. It’s rare that we see a manager be so open and honest, particularly with a club in the position Hartlepool are in.

On a more serious note, he told fans to prepare for a rollercoaster of a season as he attempts to get Hartlepool up the table.

“The supporters at this football club have got to buckle in because it’s going to be a rollercoaster. There’s going to be some bumpy times, there’s going to be some twists and turns.”
