There are a lot of interesting theories out there as to what caused the spread of Covid-19 to humans, but this notion from John Carson, a DUP councillor in Ballymena, takes the proverbial biscuit.
Councillor Carson today told The Nolan Show that the coronavirus was God's way of punishing humanity for legalising same-sex marriage and abortion. 'You reap what you sow,' he told the show. When challenged by an editor on the programme he said it was his opinion that 'coronavirus is a punishment from God.'

He was at pains to state this his own personal opinion, and not that of his party or colleagues in the Democratic Unionist Party.
"This is a global pandemic and our focus is on protecting lives in Northern Ireland," the DUP told the Belfast Telegraph.
The DUP has been strident in its opposition to the introduction of same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland. Same-sex marriage became legal in the North on January 13, 2020 and the first same-sex wedding service in Northern Ireland took place on February 12 of this year. Northern Ireland's laws on abortion changed this week, and a woman is now legally permitted to terminate a pregnancy at any stage in its first 12 weeks.
In case you might have thought this is the Nolan Show merely stirring the pot, Carson said similar on Facebook this week, commenting:
"I said when abortion was legalised that our nation would be judged by GOD because of its departure from his word and the legalisation of the murder of the unborn child as well as same sex marriage.
"I was laughed at and mocked by some but as l said at the time they laughed at NOAH until the rain started.
"You reap what you sow and our nation is now reaping the judgement of GOD because of an immoral and corrupt government.
"It is time to repent and turn again to the GOD of our Fathers."

As yet, there is no scientific evidence to the claim that the coronavirus was created by an all-powering life force to punish humanity.
