Two Irishmen came into the European Indoor Athletics Championships with realistic chances of winning a medal.

A brilliant new personal best saw Ciaran O'Lionaird finish 3rd and claim Ireland's 19th European Indoors Medal.

Recommended

Brian Gregan, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky and crashed out after being clipped from behind in this semi final.  He tweeted a pic of the nasty looking gash he has instead of a place in the final.
