Callum Walsh continued his impressive rise in boxing with a third round TKO over Delen Parsley in their super welterweight bout.

The 21-year-old Cork boxer has turned heads since making his professional debut last December, and made light work of 34-year-old Parsley as he knocked him down three times before the fight was stopped in the third round.

The victory in California brought Callum Walsh to a 5-0 record, with Walsh looking more impressive every time he enters the ring.

The Sky looks to be the limit for Callum Walsh, who is trained by Freddie Roach, the former coach of Manny Pacquiao. His promoter is Tom Loeffler, who helped guide the careers of former world champions Gennady Golovkin and Wladimir Klitschko.

To further prove just how highly rated Walsh is, his fights have been shown on the UFC’s channel UFC Fight pass, with UFC president Dana White a big fan. He also trains with former UFC interim lightweight champion and fan favourite Tony Ferguson.

It’s clear that Callum Walsh has huge potential and is highly valued by those around him. The Cork native moved to America after he failed to qualify for the previous Olympics after defeat to bronze medallist Aidan Walsh, but judging by his post-fight comments, his confidence doesn’t seem to be affected one bit.

“The last fight made me realise I hate going the distance. After that fight I was disappointed. I never want to go the distance. I’m in here to knock people out, I’m in here to give entertainment to the fans.

Everyone that comes here, they pay and I want to give them a knockout and that’s what I was doing tonight. I was getting a knockout.”

Looking ahead to the future, Walsh quoted another successful Irish combat sports star to let fans know what they can look forward to.

“Like another Irishman said, we’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over. I don’t care who, I’ll fight anybody. I don’t even know who the champions are in my weight.”
