Everyone Hates Barcelona Fans

I happened to be at Murray's on O'Connell St last night for non-sporting reasons right around the time Barca's Copa del Rey match with Almeria kicked-off. It was your run-of-the-mill Barca rout. The Almeria keeper was shitting himself and let in some of the softest goals you'll ever see. Four goals in 30 minutes, same old, same old. What intrigued me was the quiet hatred that all of the other football-watchers had for the Barcelona supporters. There was a bit of triumphalism among the Barca contingent - hooping and hollering as if the result was ever in question - but most people in the bar wouldn't even turn their heads to enjoy the Pedro or Villa goal. Barcelona hatred was particularly rife amongst Liverpool heads, who have had to adjust to mediocrity pretty quickly. I'm sure Barca supporters - even recent coverts - consider themselves a higher form of human, but most people in the pub viewed them as the ordinary guy in the office who scored the supermodel out of blind luck.
