Samir Carruthers may not sound like an ex-Republic of Ireland footballer but that is most assuredly what he is. He played for Ireland at U19 and U21 level in recent years.

Both his mug and his fly fondling hands are currently being splashed across the English tabloids after he got well and truly sloshed while enjoying corporate hospitality in Gloucestershire today.

In another blow to the standing of that much-derided segment of the population - the professional footballer - footage has emerged of Carruthers appearing to piss into a glass at the Cheltenham festival.

An unidentified friend of his then proceeded to bring down the tone a notch by tossing the contents of his own urine-filled glass over the balcony.

Carruthers, currently with MK Dons, was also hanging out alongside Bristol City defender Luke Ayling.

MK Dons have said they are launching an investigation into his behaviour.
