Andre Romer was shown a red-card after 89 minutes against Manchester United on Thursday night, and he would have been wishing that he was given his matching orders in the very first minute after Memphis Depay put in his best performance in a Manchester United shirt and gave Romer an absolute roasting, which was summed up by this ridiculous bit of skill:

And, eh... This too:

He was hung out to dry by the Dutchman who was looking to prove a point, and he did just that.

Speaking after the game to Danish media (which has been translated thanks to reddit user clintomcruisewood), Romer pulled no punches regarding his performance, admitting that he felt like crying afterwards:

I have never been this close to crying after a match. I am devastated, and it's not going to be a good night of sleep.

He is the best player I have ever faced. It is difficult to argue for anything else when he plays like this. He is the best. He can do anything. He will go inside, outside, turn me around and use his incredible pace to get past me.

Obviously, I would have loved some more backup, but when I am the one being destroyed over and over, it is not fair to blame my teammates for anything.

The second yellow card is a redundancy. Completely unnecessary. It will be a game I remember for a very long time.

The poor lad.

While the likes of Pione Sisto will now be watched by some of the biggest teams in Europe for the showing he put in over two legs, the same most likely will not be said for Romer.
