Galway hurler Brian Concannon was sent off tonight just before half-time during their Bord Gais Energy U21 All-Ireland semi-final against Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds.

Concannon received his marching orders after an apparent strike off the ball. The loss of their star forward was a huge blow for Tony Ward's side who already were trailing 1-13 to 0-9 at the time. Tipperary went on to land another goal before the break.

For Concannon, it was a red card which means he is likely to miss the All-Ireland u21 final should they reach it. Concannon has been involved with the senior squad this year, making his debut against Offaly in the Leinster Championship and scoring two goals.

The winner of today's semi-final will go on to face Munster champions Cork in the final.
