Former Tipperary U21 football manager, and current Wexford senior football manager David Power has branded the ban on minor players playing both codes as 'wrong and should not be happening'.

Tipperary's minors were a force in both football and hurling when Power was in charge - winning the Munster and All-Ireland in football in 2011, and with Power working closely with his hurling counterpart in 2012 - the Tipperary minors won three of the four competitions on offer across both codes the following year. There were five players who played for both teams across those seasons, but a rule has come in to outlaw dual minors in the county.

Power now thinks that the rule change heaps pressure on the players to perform and makes both county teams worse.

They actually piled more pressure on them by forcing them to pick hurling over football

The footballers have already crashed out of the Munster competition - while the hurlers face elimination should they lose to Clare after a previous loss to Waterford.
