It was a big day for Tullogher GAA yesterday, with the Kilkenny club winning their first ever All-Ireland title after defeating St Catherine's at Croke Park.

Tullogher entered the All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling final as favourites, although their Cork opponents would no doubt provide a stern challenge at GAA HQ.

It was an excellent game between two very good sides, one that featured a number of top class scores. That includes this belter from Walter Walsh.

A fast start from Tullogher proved to be the difference between the sides on the day, with St Catherine's ultimately unable to claw back that early deficit.

This is the club's first All-Ireland junior title, having been defeated in the decider by Cork's Drispey back in 2009.

Tullogher are sure to enjoy this victory over the coming days and weeks, with their players already looking forward to the celebrations directly after yesterday's final whistle.

During his speech, winning captain Colman O'Sullivan apologised in advance for the antics that were sure to come on the bus home.

I want to thank the sponsors of the Go Fund Me. You gave us plenty of money throughout the year, it was needed after the cup after the first county final and everything.

I have to thank Pat Ling for the bus and I apologise in advance for the way home. Tis a long way back to Tullogher...

Lastly I have to thank the supporters for their continuous support throughout the year and all the people of Tullogher. Ye never let us down all year, ye went the length and breadth of the country and outnumbered everyone we came up against all year.

I just want to say I'm glad we done it for ye, it's ye we won this match for. I was blue in the face talking about hurling with ye all last month, talking about the match.

It just shows how much it means to the people of Tullogher.

A great speech.

We'd say the craic was ninety down in Kilkenny last night.
