Guests of honour at the Sportsground were the All-Ireland winning Galway hurlers. David Burke, Joe Canning, Micheál Donoghue and Co. got a huge reception at half-time as they paraded the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

The links between Connacht and the Galway hurlers is strong. Connacht captain John Muldoon is a Minor All-Ireland winner. He also played his hurling with Portumna, the same club as Joe Canning.
