23 years after it was first released on the PS1, it has been revealed by a game developer that he put a secret cheat code in Alien: Ressurection that allows the console to perform a fascinating trick.

Martin Piper, who worked on the project with Argonaut Games, did not disclose the cheat code to his co-workers or Sony, and thus it has remained hidden this entire time.

What the cheat does is it allows the PS1 console to pay burned games without having to mod the hardware, with a more detailed breakdown from Modern Vintage Gaming in the video below.

While it may not have much relevance or use to the vast majority of gamers today, it would have been a very handy trick in the early part of the 21st century.

Of course, burned games were technically illegal and it would not have been possible to hide such a trick from Sony.
