The World's Strongest Man competition took place in Florida over the weekend, and a first-time winner has awoken today with the title of the beefiest man in the planet. Hafthor Bjornsson, best known as the Mountain from Game of Thrones was denied the opportunity to win back-to-back World's Strongest Man titles via injury and Latvian-born American Martins 'The Dragon' Licis stepped in to win his first title.

Bjornsson still somehow managed to finish third despite tearing his plantar fascia in the qualifying rounds.

Not only was it the first World's Strongest Man title for Licis, it was the first time he ever won a Strongman competition.

The competition was filmed to be aired at a future date, which means highlights are only available via live social media clips.
