While there is still plenty to play for this season, it seems that the Munster squad will undergo a sizeable overhaul once the campaign is over.

The likes of RG Snyman and Joey Carbery have already agreed deals to leave the province, with Billy Burns set to come in from Ulster. They are unlikely to be the only incoming and outgoings, with one player in particular drawing quite a bit of overseas interest.

That group may well include one particular former Munster star.

Ronan O'Gara could look to sign Munster star this summer

Antoine Frisch's Munster future is very much up in the air at the moment, with the player having reiterated his desire to play for France in recent days.

Previously seen as an Irish-qualified prospect, his status as an overseas player would make it very difficult for the province to keep him in the squad. Despite the centre having a contract that runs until 2025, it seems that the authorities in France are keen to being him back to his country of birth as soon as this summer.

The Irish Independent are reporting that Ronan O'Gara's La Rochelle are among the clubs interested in signing him.

O'Gara has made attempts to sign players from his former team in the past, including an approach to Jack Crowley when the out-half was still awaiting his breakthrough at Thomond Park.

It seems Frisch could well be on his way out of Munster regardless of La Rochelle's interest. The likes of Toulon and Montpellier are also said to be keen to sign him this summer, when it would reportedly take a 'six figure sum' in order to get him out of his current deal.

Frisch previously had ambitions of playing for Ireland, whom he qualifies to play for via his grandmother. The player joined Munster in 2022 and went on to make three appearances for Emerging Ireland that year.

However, he could never quite manage to break into Andy Farrell's test squad. As a result, his time in Irish rugby now looks to be coming to a close.
