In a career that has spanned over 30 years, Brad Pitt has become one of the biggest movie stars of all time. He started out playing the cool, good-looking lad who women would swoon over (see Thelma & Louise) but soon proved his talent and by the mid-90s he was being recruited for the most sought after roles in Hollywood. He has starred in some of the best movies of the past three decades and today we have picked out ten of the best Brad Pitt movies that you can stream at home.

With 80 acting credits, many of which involve brilliant films and performances, it is a tough task to dive in and pick out a mere ten of his movies that really stand out. Nonetheless, we've managed to whittle it down.

Brad Pitt Movies on Netflix

Inglourious Basterds

Year: 2009

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89%

Perhaps Pitt's greatest character, Lt Aldo Raine is charismatic, hilarious and one of the most quotable Tarantino characters (Christoph Waltz' Colonel Landa gives him a run for his money - "It's a bingo!"). Pitt seamlessly becomes Lt Raine, the fearless leader of a group of Nazi killing warriors, the Inglourious Basterds,  in a flawless performance in an utterly re-watchable film.

True Romance

Year: 1993

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93%

Directed by Tony Scott using a well-written script from Quentin Tarantino, True Romance follows two lovers, Clarence and Alabama (Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette), as they go on the run from the mob. Brad Pitt plays the role of a jobless stoner and couch-potato, Floyd. Although Brad Pitt's role is minor in the film, he fits it perfectly, and brightens up the screen every time he makes an appearance. The role itself was to have lasting effects. Seth Rogen and Judd Appatow said that the whole idea for their movie Pineapple Express was inspired by Pitt's character in True Romance. True Romance is available to stream on Netflix.

Moneyball

Year: 2011

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 94%

Moneyball follows Billy Beane's (Pitt) attempt to reinvent his baseball team, the Oakland As. He joins forces with Yale graduate, Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), to challenge the old-school recruitment method and use a computer-generated analysis to acquire players. Pitt provides a melancholy performance that shows an ego humbled by years of failure and disappointment. Even if you're not into baseball, this is worth a watch. Moneyball is available to stream on Netflix.

Ocean's Eleven

Year: 2001

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 81%

With one of the most star-studded Hollywood casts of all time, Ocean's Eleven is the story of a group of eleven criminals assembled by crook Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney. The group, which includes Pitt's Rusty Ryan, attempt to rob from three popular casinos in Las Vegas. It's slick, cool and effortlessly rewatchable. Don Cheadle's English accent is enough reason to give this a watch. Available to stream on Netflix.

Fury

Year: 2014

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 76%

Recommended

A US tank crew embark on a mission that puts all their lives at risk in Nazi Germany during the final bloody battles of World War II. They soon realise that the odds are against them. Fury is dirty and grimy and convincingly real. Pitt plays the tough-as-nails leader of the crew, Wardaddy. He embodies a man who has been hardened by years of war. Available to stream on Netflix.

12 Years a Slave

Year: 2013

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 95%

12 Years a Slave is a biographical period drama based on the memoirs of Solomon Northup (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor). Northup is offered a job by two white men, Brown and Hamilton, but when he arrives in Washington DC, Northup realises he has been sold into slavery. Pitt plays a Canadian abolitionist who attempts to help Northup. This is one of the most intensely real portrayals of slavery that has been committed to film and shows its grim, cruel nature. 12 Years a Slave is available to stream on Netflix.

Brad Pitt Movies on Now TV

Once Upon A Time in...Hollywood

Year: 2019

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 85%

With a cast so star-studded that it could light up the Hollywood sign itself, Tarantino's ninth film is a homage to the golden age of cinema and 1960s Hollywood. The movie follows has-been actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) as they struggle to return to prominence in LA. Rick also happens to live next door to Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and Roman Polanski. The final scene is bonkers and brilliant. Available to stream on Now TV.

Snatch

Year: 2000

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 73%

Although Snatch probably hasn't aged all that well, it certainly is a Guy Ritchie classic and still proves to be a captivating watch, consisting of intertwining subplots and full to the brim with plot twists. It follows a boxing promoter (Jason Statham) who is introduced to fixing fights by a ruthless gangster (Alan Ford). Brad Pitt delivers a thrilling performance through Irish gypsy bareknuckle boxer Mickey O'Neill, although his accent is one of the elements of the movie that hasn't aged well. Despite its shortcomings, Snatch is still a blast. Available to stream on Now TV.

Brad Pitt Movies on Amazon Prime

Fight Club

Year: 1999

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 79%

Fight Club stars Edward Norton as a white collared insomniac who seeks to find meaning beyond the cubicle walls of his capitalistic job. He meets soap salesman, Tyler Durden (Pitt), and the two form an underground fight club which spirals into something more sinister. Pitt turns in an incredible performance as the worry-free anarchist Durden. Fight Club ticks all the boxes, not to mention, having one of the greatest plot twists of all time. I just realised I've completely broken the first rule of Fight Club. Fight Club is available on Amazon Prime.

Mr & Mrs Smith

Year: 2005

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 60%

A married couple, played by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, struggle to keep their marriage alive until they discover that they are both secretly working as assassins. Their newest respective assignments require them to kill each other. The plot of this film is dodgy at times but the imperfections are overshadowed by the chemistry of the two stars. Brangelina (RIP) were literally falling in love during the shooting of the film so you are watching a genuine romance unfold on screen. Mr & Mrs Smith is available to stream on Amazon Prime.

So there you have it; 10 of the best Brad Pitt movies available to stream in Ireland. Arrivederci.
