Obviously the dog in the street knows of the Great British Bake Off at this stage but if you're like me and have previously scoffed at the idea of sitting down to watch people baking for an hour then think again.

Channel 4's The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer airs its third episode tonight and it is simply a delight.

First of all, it's for a very important cause and it provides a timely reminder that we must not forget about the other issues we continue to face as Covid-19 dominates the news and our everyday life. However, it is a reminder that floats on a sea of calm.

The Bake Off tent provides the perfect setting for some much-needed tranquility, while the celebrity element takes the edge off and leaves us with a lot more funny moments compared to the intensity of the regular series.

So far in the series the likes of Louis Theroux, James Buckley and Scarlett Moffatt have donned their aprons, while tonight's episode features Tan France, Caroline Quentin, Joel Dommett and Johanna Konta.

If you're looking for something to switch off from the noise then look no further. Tonight's episode starts at 8pm on Channel 4 and you can watch the first two episodes on the catch-up service on your TV box or on the Channel 4 website here.
