Rumours have begun flying around that Taylor Swift is in Ireland right now, in County Cavan. We're suckers for a good celebrity sighting here in Ireland, and this is just the latest such incident in the last two years.

Is Taylor Swift in Cavan?

The Anglo-Celt, a Cavan based publication, are reporting that Taylor Swift is indeed in the Breffni county.

They suggest that she and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn are staying at Farnham Estate for some peace and relaxation before Alwyn begins shooting on his new film, a Netflix thriller co-starring Florence Pugh.

The film is set to shoot in Wicklow from the end of August, so it would make sense for the pair to be in Ireland.

The rumours come hot on the heels of Swift's recent post to Instagram which suggested that she was in County Donegal. At the end of July, she posted a series of photos of her exploring the area around Magherawarden Beach in the north of Donegal.

Filming for a TV adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel 'Conversations With Friends' starring Alwyn recently took place in the same area, so the photos may well be recent.

The rumours of Taylor Swift sightings in Cavan are, for now, just that - rumours. We have no proof of an Irish visit from Swift, but the news has set off the rumour train on Twitter - and it's even drawn in Cavan-based singer Áine Cahill.

The last time Taylor Swift came to Ireland, 133,034 people saw the American singer play across two nights in Croke Park.

It will be a while yet before we'll see crowds like that at concerts in Croke Park, but she has released three new albums since those gigs so there'll be plenty of reason for another gig in the future.

We'll be keeping a close eye on the rumours of Taylor Swift's appearance in Cavan but, for now, it seems like it's just speculation. She's just in time for the start of the Cavan Senior Championships though, so maybe she'll stick around.
