There appears to be some huge news from the world of Irish boxing, as reports over night from the US claim that Donegal fighter Jason Quigley will box American Demetrius 'Boo Boo' Andrade for his middleweight title next month.

ESPN reported last night that Andrade and Quigley will headline a three-fight card on Friday, November 19. The fight will be streamed live on DAZN. The location of the fight is unconfirmed but is said to take place in 'New England'. Andrade hails from Providence, Rhode Island. There is, of course, a massive Irish population around the east coast of the USA so there could be a tremendous atmosphere at this fight, whether it takes place in Boston or Providence.

Andrade, who is 30-0 with 18 knockouts, is the reigning WBO Middleweight champion.

Quigley is three years younger than Andrade, but will enter the fight as an underdog. His victory over Shane Mosley was the biggest of the Donegal man's professional career and he now has a shot to win the same belt that his trainer Andy Lee held.

Jason Quigley calls out Andrade

Quigley called out Andrade immediately after defeating Mosley in Las Vegas last May.

I remember three, four years ago when Boo Boo Andrade had no promoter, he had no real management going on, he was like ‘I’ll fight this Jason Quagley guy’ - he didn’t even pronounce my second name right.

Boo Boo Andrade, now you’re the champ, you’re always crying that you don’t have people to fight you. I’m not saying that I’m going to get in there and kick your ass. I’ll get in there and put on one hell of a fight with you. I’ve got a belt, you’ve got the main one, give me a crack at that title.

Andrade was quick to respond on his own Twitter.

Eddie Hearn had talked up the possibility of a fight between his fighter Andrade and Golden Boy's Quigley earlier this month.

"I think Quigley might get the fight. It's a decent name in America and a good fight for the east coast of America.

"I’d like to give Quigley the opportunity. Again, none of the big names are forthcoming to fight Demetrius Andrade.

"He needs to fight. 20 November, potentially in Boston or Providence. I think Quigley might get it."

The news was broken by Mike Coppinger of ESPN.
