Liam Gallagher Tells Amazing Story About Making A Music Video With Eric Cantona

Liam Gallagher has had a pretty extraordinary life in music and this week, he shared an incredible Eric Cantona story with the 2 Johnnies.

Gallagher released the song 'Once' back in 2019 and features Manchester United legend Eric Cantona in the music video.

Cantona can be seen sitting in a robe drinking red wine in a magnificent chateau and singing along to the song at the start of the video, before going on a walk with his robe open towards a piano in another room.

The Premier League Hall of Fame inductee then strips down into his boxer shorts before putting a royal mantle around his shoulders and putting a crown on his head. A fitting picture for the man nicknamed King Eric by Manchester United fans around the world.

Gallagher appeared on the 2 Johnnies podcast this week, and revealed  Cantona's surprise involvement in the video was completely voluntary.

"He’s singing “Once” at home on his Instagram. So, we got someone to ring him up and say look, Do you want to be in this video? Because we see you like the song.

And he said, "yes I will be in it".

So then em..We spoke to him and said, look, How much do you want for being in the video?

“I do not want no money”

They’re gonna have to give you something and he goes “I do not, I be in the video for nothing”

I was going, “All right then, we’ll send you a plane ticket, what hotel?"

“I will make my own way there, I will get my own hotel.”

Gallagher continued to try and give Cantona something for his wirk but Eric remained firm on his stance.

“Well you must want fuckin’ something, what kind of wine do you want?”

“I will bring my own wine”

Anyway he turned up, did the video and fucked off man. Never seen him again for nothing. What a geezer.

Just because he loves the song and that’s what real legends about, you know what I mean? I was going “What the fuck?”

I went “How much would he want n all that” he didn’t want nothing. He didn’t want pickin’ up at the airport, he hired his own car, got his own hotel, brought his own food. Done the fucking video and fucked off home, never seen him again, didn’t want nothing. That’s what you call a proper legend."
